Stanza-"High For Hours"
Stanza is back with a new video for his song "High For Days." More of the same working-class reality rap you should be growing to expect from him. I'm glad to see he got a good visual for this joint. His songs deserve good looks because they always tell some type of story. I'm still hoping he shoots another video for "A Million Dollars" though.

Stanza-"D.U.I."

New joint from the homie Stanza. Fortunately unfortunately I can relate to this one...just like so many of you out there. For real though, ya'll stay up on cuz. I'll admit I kinda slept on him for a second, but Stanza is one of the better conceptual rappers coming out of the city right now. I've yet to hear him make a song about rapping about rapping or rapping about nothing.

Breaking News: Killer Mike added to Slaughterhouse show at The Loft on September 26th

Crazy. Just a few weeks ago a small debate broke out on Twitter about why Slaughterhouse (Joe Buddens, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I and Royce the 5'9) has an MC from every part of the country except the South, and how Killer Mike would have been the ordeal candidate for the Southern slot. Well...I guess you can say its happened.
Mike just got added to the Slaughterhouse show as well as the homies Senor Kaos, Small Eyez and Stanza. Keep your eyes open and keep coming around these parts as I will be giving away tickets to this show. Stay tuned.

Pics and Recap: Leaders of the Cool at Lenny's
Aight so...
This past Saturday I fell through Lenny's to check out Leaders of the New Cool...a traveling artist showcase that made its debut in Atlanta about a month or so ago. I missed the last one and wasn't really sure of what to expect since I heard as much good as I did bad about it. I've been to quite a few showcases and the usual complaint is that there are too many opening acts, sets go too long and the shows start too late. While LOTNC didn't crank up until around 11pm I can say that I enjoyed all of the music...
{warning you now, this is a long ass post}
The first cat to hit the stage was Big Chad Famous (who insisted that I take this pic in efforts to get him some sponsorship from PBR). Dude looked very relaxed on the stage...like, I just got out the bed relaxed. But dude's music was pretty jamming. He rapped, sang, etc. His mypace page says his music is "Alternative/Hip Hop/Indie" and yeah, that pretty much describes it. I was pleasantly surprised. This was the first time I actually heard of dude, but evidently he's a star around these parts. The song that stood out to me was "Alone In Space" which come to find out seems to be one of the main songs he's pushing.
Next up was the homie Stanza. I was glad to see he was on the bill, because it kinda seemed like ever since he went on Wild Out Wednesdays on 106 & Park he kinda fell back on performing around the city. But he did his thing as usual. He's pretty much known for his song "A.T.L." which is pretty much everybody's city anthem that the "masses" haven't caught on to yet. But me personally, my favorite part of the show is when he does "A Million Dollars" which is probably my favorite song by him.
Stanza-"A Million Dollars"
After him the homie Haziq fell throught right quick and did a couple songs from his "Business Is Good" album. Ya'll should give it a listen. I've known dude for a minute but ya'll may know him from his affilation to Tabi Bonney. But Haziq is truly on some real "get money" shit. But not the illegal way, all legit. My favorite song from him is "Hussla."
One artist in particular I wanted to check out was Ms. Brown. For whatever reasons I've never been able to make it to any of her performances or events. I did listen to her music a couple times and thought it was cool. But after seeing her perform and look like she meant what she was saying, I dug it more. Her's some video of her doing her song "No Strings Attatched":
You can peep her Under The Influence mixtape here.
{still going}
The show was also somewhat of a homecoming for the homie Spree Wilson as he was performing in Atlanta for the first time since he moved up to NYC a couple months ago. I told him that he done messed around and learned some new tricks since he left. He was playing guitar behind his head, on the ground...
standing on chairs and shit, hahah. But for real he did his thing and you can tell the change in environment has rejuvinated him. Here's some footage of him playing guitar and performing "Word."
The headliners for the show were Jeff B. and Mr. DJ better known as Mama's Mustache. I've been hep to their music for some months and this was my second time seeing them perform. Me personally, I think the shit is jamming. I dig how they are going from the ground up too. I mean, both of these dudes have been doing their thing for a minute and could easily shuffle into the music industry door from the top floor, but they're hitting all the spots where independent music flourishes first, so kudos to them.
Overall, the Leaders of the New Cool show was pretty good. Don't really have any complaints. I didn't realize how long I was in there until I left. Probably because I enjoyed all of the artists and they kept their sets short and to the point. The show was genuienly all about the music. But yeah, I took a gang of photos and would love for you to check them out and let me know what you think of them. Peace.

Sneaker Friends '09: Greg Street Gives Away Two Pairs of Air Yeezys
Last Thursday Greg Street hosted the fourth edition of his Sneaker Friends event at 595 North. Overall the night was pretty good. DJ Jaycee had the party rocking from beginning to end. Some familiar faces from the sneaker community showed up as well as Andre 3000, Jason Geter, Mistah FAB, Dow Jones and Khujo Goodie to name a few. The night also had performances from Hollyweerd, Stanza, Mama's Mustache and Prynce. Some unfortunate circumstances have gone down since then that have prevented me from sharing the pictures I took at the event with you guys. But luckily I still caught some video of the event.
Even if you aren't a sneaker head like that, you know that the Nike Air Yeezys are a hot commodity right now. Greg was generous enough to make somebody's night (maybe year even) by giving away a couple pair after damn near everyone left and went home (or to the strip club). All he asked was that every dude who wore a size 9.5 to come up on stage and then...I'll let the video do the talking.
You have to see this dude's reaction when he finds out what he's won. It kinda reminded me of the Heineken commercial where the women are going crazy over the shoe closet while the men are going crazy over the beer closet...except here, the role is reversed.
UPDATE: I found the photos, view them here.

Frantic Friday in Atlanta (6/5): Devin The Dude & 88-Keys, Camp Lo and FILA Party
Consider this a 7-day heads up. Some of ya'll might have seen the tweet I made about Atlanta the other day and this is a prime example of it. Not really complaining over this one, but damn, I feel like I need to have three me's if I want hit up each of these shows. Check after the jump to see what I mean.
Devin the Dude and 88-Keys
Ambient Studio
585 Wells, Atlanta, GA 30312

My favorite rapper and the man behind one of my favorite albums of 2008 are on the same bill at Ambeint Studios (yeah, I don't know where that's at either) and I have to be there. Devin hasn't been in Atlanta since DJ Princess Cut brought him through Club Crucial 3 years ago.
Forever I Love Atlanta (FILA)
595 North
595 North Ave, Atlanta

I just found out about this party the other day from the homie Keinon of FCC. Every FCC party I've been too I've had a good time, feels like you're family even if you don't know na'an ngh in there. My blue Fila's got stolen out of my gym locker a few months ago (damn, I still haven't told that story) but I might just hit up Walter's and get a new pair just to hit this up.
Camp Lo
Cenci
1259 Glenwood Ave (East Atlanta Village)

Crazy, me and my brother was just jamming to some Camp Lo on the way to Miami last weekend. From what I've heard, I hear they still got it. Plus the homies Binkis Recs and Senor Kaos are hitting the stage. I also want to check the dude Stanza out. On top of that, I am highly interested in seeing what that Lucid Absinthe talkin'bout. I read in either GQ or Esquire not too long ago that that stuff has been banned for like 90 years and just became legal again sometime in the last couple years. I want to try it, but if they're going to be doing all of this there, iono about all that shawty.
But yeah, there you go people. You have one week to decide what you're going to be doing with yourself next Friday. This ain't even counting what MJQ gonna be looking like. I hope you enjoy your decision(s).

Bobby Ray, Playboy Tre, Yelawolf and Stanza at Apache This Saturday

This should be fun. I haven't seen B.o.B. perform since the name change. Haven't heard Tre perform any of the stuff off Liquor Store Mascot yet. Went to see Yela last weekend but had to leave right before he hit the stage. Curious to see what's really good with this Stanza cat I keep hearing about. Hopefully I'll see ya'll there.
