A.Leon Craft feat. Playboy Tre-"Back to the D.E.C."

A.Leon Craft feat. Playboy Tre-"Back to the D.E.C."

Hell yeah. This just made my day. Eastside Hoe! The songs samples that old Johnny Gill and Stacy Lattisaw "Where Do We Go" (which Mike Roberts used to play THEESHIT out of on V103 back in the day) and its jamming. I'm also happy to hear A.Leon shout out all the streets and neighborhoods as well as the Backwudz/Labratz just to let ya'll know its still a family affair.

One time for Kizzy Rock, Ghetto Mafia, Youngbloodz, Baby D, Mr. Ku (Scottdale), Adamshame (Scottdale), B.o.B, Noah and all the other MC's from Decatur who to this day still don't get their props for contributing to Atlanta's rap legacy.

This comes from A.Leon Craft's solo project with SMKA The Prologue Part 1. Which is also available for DOWNLOAD HERE.

Bonus Decatur classics after the jump...

Ghetto Mafia-"Straight From The Dec"

Ghetto Mafia-"In Decatur"

Young Noah-"Decatur 2U"

Baby D-"Eastside vs Westside"

Adamshame-"Get It"

Youngbloodz-"Shake Em Off"

DJ Kizzy Rock-"Yeah Shawty Yeah"

I couldn't find a youtube of Mr. Ku "Born Threat"...sorry. Might have to make one myself later on. Oh yeah, gotta throw up the old Backwudz too, seeing as how A.Leon was in the group.

Official Motion Family SMKA Vol 2 Release Party Video

This was by far one of the crunkest events I've ever been to. Absolutely awesome. Hate to sound cliche, but Hip Hop was definitely in the building. If you consider yourself a tastemaker, influencer, shot caller or hell just a music lover period...and CHOSE not to be here...you really missed out.

The video features performances from Pill, Yelawolf, Aleon Craft, Gripplyaz & Young Scolla.

A.Leon Craft - "The Way You Do The Things You Do"

A.Leon Craft-"The Way You Do The Things You Do" (prod by 808 Blake of SMKA)

A.Leon Craft remaking a "Smokey" Robinson song is almost too appropriate. Music purist can relax...he didn't get on here rapping about weed, guns, bitches and hoes. He just re-did the song and added a little bit of him to it.

Props SMKA

"Hip-Hop Meets Classical": SMKA x Aleon Craft X Atlanta Symphony Orchestra On CNN

This story aired on CNN this afternoon. Really cool look. I remember Dr. Dre saying that he wanted to head an orchestra in an interview a while ago. Looks like SMKA and A.Leon Craft beat him to the punch.

This is a very special and unique collaboration between Hip-Hop and Classic that is truly the first of its kind. SMKA was commissioned by The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra to remix a piece for their "Concerts for Young People" series. The song 808 Blake created is called "Music is My Life" produced by SMKA, and it is written and performed by Aleon Craft. Additionally, Parker Smith played the guitar and Brand Dorfman scored the peice. It has been performed 20 times since October 2009. CNN covered the collaboration last week and aired the special today. SMKA is proud to be a part of this project, and grateful for the opportunity to work with the ASO.

When A.Leon says that music is his life...he ain't lying. Dude been in music for as long as I've known him. He used to get down when he was drum major in the band in high school...so this role is fitting for him.

I'm hearing that the upcoming SMKA x A.Leon Craft project is coming along pretty damn good too. Hopefully I'll have some details to share with you soon.

Hollyweerd feat. A.Leon Craft-"So What"

The fellas from Hollyweerd invited me over to the studio not to long ago to let me hear a batch of the new stuff they were cooking over there. All of it was pretty dope. Folks was comparing them to 'Kast at one point in time, but I think that was moreso because anytime someone does something odd or different in Hip Hop, 'Kast is always the closest frame of reference. But the stuff I heard over there really shows that Hollyweerd is building their own musical identity. This is one of the joints they let me hear. Its going to be on the new SMKA The 808 Experiment Vol 2 project.

Oh yeah, I'm glad I get an excuse to post this dope ass art work Corey Davis did for it. From what I see they must be using this as a theme because they used it for the "I Wanna Meet Her" track they did with Spree Wilson as well.

Vance Vexed x A.Leon Craft x Skinny and Scales (of Nappy Roots)-"Veggies & Fruit"

"Poppin Bud Light like its champagne..."-Scales

This one kinda snuck past me but I stumbled across it over at SMKA's spot. Its a track from Westside Atlanta emcee Vance Vexed featuring the homie A.Leon Craft (formerly Big Mark of Da Backwudz/Labratz) and Skinny & Scales (Skinny Deville and Fishscales of Nappy Roots). I mean, the song is some straight up weedhead music but I love it. I used to be on the "veggies & fruit" diet in college. I haven't hit a blunt in years but this song jams like a mahfuggah. Kinda makes me wanna start back smoking, but naaaaah. Ya'll keep an ear out for A.Leon and Skinny & Scales. These dudes are always up to something...

Atlanta After Dark with Grip Plyaz, A.Leon Craft and Sean Falyon

Seeing as how the Hawks didn't rep Atlanta too well last night, I figured I'd watch some cats that do a good job of it everyday. If you don't know by now, its hard to find a night in Atlanta where absolutely nothing is happening, it stays busy for the most part. Last night was one of those nights as three of the city's up and comers Grip Plyaz, A.Leon Craft and Sean Falyon each has shows last night.

A.Leon and Grip both performed at Creative Loafing's Mixt Compilation release party at Eyedrum. The compilation features a wide range of indie artist in Atlanta and was done in conjunction with their annual music issue that just hit the streets. I haven't listened yet, but I'm anxious to check it out though. You can peep it yourself at Creative Loafing's website.

I juuuuust missed A.Leon's performance but I did get their in time to catch Grip who is always entertaining. You can catch some of his set up in the Qik corner. They wound up doing their football-head song "Plaxico Burress."

Grip even did the Rudy dance at the end...

I got a chance to catch one other act while I was there and it was very interesting. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the bands name, but these dudes were performing under ladders...

Yeah, they must have rubbed off on the Hawks, because swear as soon as tweeted about them, next thing I know, Joe Johnson is in a wheelchair.

After that I headed over to the Star Bar in Little 5 Points to catch the homie Sean Falyon. It was actually perfect timing because a few folks over at Eyedrum were worried they was gonna miss Sean do his thing since the show schedules overlapped. Luckily we didn't miss it.

This was my first time up in the Star Bar. I meant to go a couple weeks ago to catch Hollyweerd but mistakenly went to Star Lounge off Peters St. Not going to complain though, wound up getting some bomb ass wings and stiff drinks there. So as Bobby Creek would say...it was a Brilliant Mistake.

Anyways, the showcase went pretty good. It was put on by Pine Magazine and it also featured an artist I walked in on named Coby C.

I was feeling the music he performed and he was nice enough to give me one of his CD's after the show. As intriguing as the music was though, I have to say that the drummer is what caught my attention the most, and he wasn't even doing anything. Dude was in a trance the whole time. Ya'll know that saying "give the drummer some"...well somebody definitely gave him something, what? I don't know.

But yeah, the homie Falyon did his thing and in a true show of support Grip and A.Leon came over and joined him on stage as well. They ended the set performing "Beat Off In My Ride."

Again, the post is getting long. I really have to figure out this HTML coding for the "read more" function on Blogger. If any of ya'll know how to do it (I don't mean know how to direct me to the help page) please help. Check out the galleries, thanks for visiting.
