Plies-"Letter to the Industry"
"I keep my eyes on you niggas and fuck with you from a distance..."
Does Plies always speak what he's pointing to on the hat he's wearing in the picture above? Probably not. Is he the new Ja Rule? Hell yeah. Is he the big goon that he professes to be? That still remains to be seen.
I've heard plenty stories about Mr. Plenty Money and they all pretty much say that this guy is an college educated man who once considered being a nurse, fronting like he's a bad ass. From the times I've seen and met him, I can't really say much to dispute that.
But, I'll be damned if the dude don't have a few songs that I really like (guilty pleasures included) and this new joint is one of them. Ironically, listening to some of the lines in this song, you have to wonder if he's the pot calling the kettle black.
But at the end of the day, I dig the bottom line of the song which is...I only give a damn about my family, the rest of ya'll can kiss my ass. Over the last few months alot of folks have been coming out talking down on Plies for not showing up to video shoots, shows, studio sessions, etc...but like he said in the song, handle the business part and he'll be there.
Plus, the part where he talks about having security to protect him from "the b*tches"..."not you niggas" was funny as hell to me. Because believe me, buddy rolls with plenty of security. Hell I almost wanted to try him off GP once just to help them do their job.
Does this erase Plies' growing reputation as a "fake rapper?" No. But I'll be damned if he doesn't spit some real shit from time to time. "Fake rapper" and "real shit" probably don't sound right being said in the same sentence but like one of my big homies once told me...even a broken watch is right twice a day.
