Freddie Gibbs and Mikkey Halstead-"On My Own"

The Chicago homie Andrew at FSD had been sitting on this gem for a while, but they decided to unleash it on the world with some visuals to match and it came out dope as hell. For real. I want to see a time where stuff like this gets heard on the radio EVERYWHERE again.

Oh yeah, just so you know...I'm dusting off the microphone and lewd jokes and hopping on the stage again. I'll be hosting this joint right here. I will have some giveaways in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

Fake Shore Drive Interviews Freddie Gibbs

Very happy to see this interview go down. I put the Chicago homie Andrew Barber from FakeShoreDrive up on Freddie Gibbs some months ago after the folks over at TSS did the same for me. And just like everyone else that takes a listen to this mans music, they become fans almost instantly. Gibbs raps about how he "just a hop, skip and a jump from the CHI" but yet cats don't show him no love. Well, with THE Chicago blog interviewing him while he's in town with Mikkey Halsted, it looks like all of that is changing.

In what I think may be Gibbs' first online interview since his Miseducation... and Midwestgangsta... mixtape were released, he speaks on everything from his former relationshp with Interscope records, his influences (Tela was one of my favorite rappers too) and his approach to making songs.

Mikkey Halsted Previews Chicago: The Photo Album Pt. 3

Check out the third installment of Decatur Dan and Mikkey Halsted Chicago: The Photo Album preview series. The song featured here is "Runnin My Town" which will feature Bun B (Houston/PA), Killer Mike (Atlanta), Chip Da Ripper (Cleveland), and Gillie Da Kid (Grand Rapids, MI)...there's one more rapper/region to add to this unfinished song, so let your imaginations run wild.

Obviously it samples the theme music from Halloween or Psycho or one of those scary movies...meaning its sounds identical to Rock D the Legend's "DDT." Ironically that song had Mike on it too, before his verse was replaced with one from Big Boi.

Mikkey Halsted-"Frozen" preview

The second installment of Mikkey and the homie Decatur Dan's Chicago: The Photo Album preview series.

Mikkey Halsted-"Rebel To America" [preview]

Shouts out to Decatur Dan for sending this over. For the next few weeks Dan is teaming up with Chicago's Uncrowned King, Mikkey Halsted to give you some sneak peeks and listens to his upcoming “Chicago: The Photo Album” project. "Rebel To America" is the first shot from the series, dope ish.

And oh yeah, just because I can, I'm re-posting one of my all time favorite songs ever...Mikkey's "Liquor Store" after the jump. Deal with it.

Mikkey Halsted-"We Are One"

Granted, he's not rapping about having fun at a Memorial Day cook out, but the fact that producer No I.D. sampled Frankie Beverly & MAZE's "We Are One" kinda put me in that mood. Nonetheless, check this song out. Mikkey is dope and has been for some time now. He's the man behind one of my favorite songs ever.
